Job Description:

Project description and responsibilities: We seek a Postdoctoral Researcher in quantitative spatial ecology to lead a project mapping ungulate migrations in Nevada. The postdoc will be based out of the Nevada Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit (NVCFWRU) in the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Sciences (NRES) at the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR). Project objectives include estimating and mapping migration corridors and seasonal habitat ranges for ungulate populations (Mule Deer, Pronghorn, Elk) to support wildlife management decisions for ungulate migration conservation in Nevada. The postdoc will be expected to produce annual reports, publish at least one peer-reviewed journal article, give presentations to cooperators and at conferences, and supervise data management needs. The postdoc will be expected to develop additional research questions and analyses based on their interests.

The postdoc will be supervised by Dr. Brian Folt and Dr. JeO Falke and based at the NVCFWRU at UNR. We expect the postdoc to participate in our lab community and will provide opportunities to engage in mentoring, proposal development, and research collaborations. The postdoc will be aOorded considerable educational training opportunities and encouraged to co-teach a departmental class, as interest dictates.

Qualifications:

Qualifications: PhD in wildlife biology, spatial ecology, conservation biology, or a related field. Applicants must have experience in R programming and spatial analysis. Experience with ungulates, working with large and/or GPS datasets, and a strong record of publishing peer-reviewed literature are preferred. The ideal candidate is creative, productive, and collaborative with strong oral and written communication skills. We value and support intersectional diversity and work-life balance.

Salary and benefits: Annual salary of $60,000/year.
