Trumbull Forest Products Inc is hiring a full-time Procurement Forester. The person filling this position should be proficient at all duties required of a procurement forester. This includes all aspects of locating, assessing, pricing and negotiating the purchase and successful harvest of standing timber to supply logs to our Atlantic, PA sawmill.

Essential Functions:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Maintain a good working relationship with our wood source suppliers
  • Proven experience in forestry management or a related field is essential.
  • All aspects of purchasing standing timber.
  • Locate and mark boundary lines.
  • Cruise standing timber for quantity.
  • Appraise timber for quality and value.
  • Locate skid roads and landing locations.
  • Apply costs to all aspects of timber sale preparation and harvesting.
  • Due diligence in purchasing.
  • Title research.
  • Qualify properties in advance of timber cruising.
  • Apply for various types of permits
  • All aspects of oversight of harvest of standing timber sales.
  • Visit harvest sites to determine if BMPs are being used appropriately.
  • Assure boundary lines are being observed.
  • Determine whether residual damage is acceptable.
  • Check to see that the proper trees are being cut.

Qualifications:

  • High School Degree
  • Ability to learn
  • Highly motivated and willing to work independently
