Deadline: Wed, 08/21/2024 - 12:00pm Employer: GA DNR Wildlife Resources Division Job Field: Wildlife Job Type: Full Time Location: Georgia Location Detail: Social Circle, GA Job Description: Plan, develop, and administer WRD’s Urban Wildlife Management program in metropolitan Atlanta and Savannah. Coordinates with department staff to provide technical guidance materials specific to urban wildlife, serves as liaison to media and local governments, including animal control agencies. Serves as 24/7 on call emergency point of contact for any metro Atlanta wildlife emergencies that exceed the scope of commercial nuisance wildlife control officers. Supervises a team of 3 wildlife technicians and a wildlife biologist responsible for providing education programs, outreach, and technical guidance specifically geared to the unique demands created by wildlife in urban and suburban areas. Within 1 year of hire, successful candidate must be vaccinated for rabies (titer check annually thereafter). Qualifications: Manager 1 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology, fisheries management, wildlife management, or a natural resources-related field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of job-related natural resource experience. Manager 2 Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in biology, zoology, fisheries management, wildlife management, or a natural resources related field from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of related natural resources experience at a supervisory/management level OR one year of experience required at the lower level Mgr. 1, Natural Resources (NRM040) or position equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: 1. Detailed knowledge relative to nuisance wildlife management. 2. Certification, training and experience with chemical immobilization of wildlife and capture techniques. 3. Experience supervising multiple direct reports. 4. Computer software and mapping experience (e.g. MS Word, Excel, Access, GIS/GPS, and Arc-GIS). 5. Wildlife Resources Division experience.
