Deadline: Fri, 04/29/2022 - 12:00pm Employer: Texas A&M Forest Service Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Location: Texas Location Detail: College Station Job Description: Major/essential duties of job: As WGFTIP Program Specialist, you will be responsible for delivering innovative programs, creating successful partnerships, and providing effective technical assistance in order to enhance the productivity of the southern pine resource to meet member objectives. Technical assistance to include guidance on seed orchard establishment and management, progeny test design, installation, management and quality control assessments, advanced-generation selection and breeding. Occasional duties: Presenting cooperative research and program results to members, attending scientific meetings, and technical site visits. Qualifications: Education: Applicant must be a forestry graduate (minimum B.S. Forestry) with a major in forest management or a closely related course of study from an SAF Accredited Forestry Degree Program. Work Experience and Required Skills: Two years experience in an applied breeding program. Must have communication, organization, and documentation skills. Miscellaneous: Comments: -Must have valid Texas driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment, with record within Agency standards. -Must obtain Texas Noncommercial Political Pesticide Applicator License within first year of employment -Must be able to speak and write clearly. -Must be able to work overtime, with some overnight travel. -Will be in the field for extended periods of time. Salary: $42,000 - $46,000 per year plus benefits, depending upon education and experience.
