Job Description:

Major/essential duties of job: As UTIP Program Specialist, you will be responsible for expanding and delivering an innovative program and creating successful partnerships to enhance the urban forest resource in Texas. Responsibilities include coordination, establishment and maintenance of UTIP seed orchards, coordination of seed collection from UTIP orchards and other locations, coordinate testing and evaluation of selections, assist with the development of public-private relationships with growers to promote “Texas Tested Texas Tough“ trees, and coordinate seedling production and distribution at the Forest Science Laboratory.

Occasional duties: Coordinate seedling deliveries to municipalities, maintenance of seed and seedling inventory databases.

Qualifications:

Education: Applicant must be a forestry graduate (minimum B.S. Forestry) with a major in forest management or a closely related course of study from an SAF Accredited Forestry Degree Program.

Work Experience and Required Skills: Two years experience in a tree/plant growing operation. Must have communication, organization, and documentation skills.

-Must have valid Texas driver's license or be able to obtain one within 30 days of employment, with record within Agency standards.

-Must obtain Texas Noncommercial Political Pesticide Applicator License within first year of employment

-Must be able to speak and write clearly.

-Must be able to work overtime, with some overnight travel.

-Will be in the field for extended periods of time.
