POSITION DESCRIPTION

The successful candidate will build and lead a best-in-class timberland real estate and alternative business program focused on driving investor return, improving the quality of residual timberlands, and diversifying the overall asset portfolio. The position will collaborate with the President, Chief Financial Officer, timberland management staff, and external stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and capitalize on real estate and non-timber opportunities across the 772,000 timberland footprint.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 Favorably positioning CST real estate and alternative business programs in the regional market through networking, marketing, research, and fostering of productive relationships

 Identification, valuation, and marketing of real estate sales

 Evaluation, analysis, and negotiation of unsolicited real estate offers

 Identification and execution of small tract acquisitions designed to improve timberland operations or increase overall portfolio value

 Engagement and coordination of a broker network to market and facilitate real estate sales

 Engagement and coordination of surveyors, attorneys, title companies, and other parties to facilitate the real estate sale closing process

 Driving the entitlement process for CST real estate development projects

 Development, review, and execution of purchase and sale agreements

 Collaboration with operations personnel to evaluate positive and negative impacts of real estate and alternative business opportunities on timberland operations

 Research, evaluation, and execution of alternative business opportunities, such as carbon sequestration, solar and wind options, tower leases, and conservation easements

 Networking with regional stakeholders to communicate and drive interest in CST real estate projects

 Monitoring and reporting of all phases of the real estate and alternative business transaction pipeline

 Collaboration with timberland management staff in evaluating and processing annual ad valorem taxes, managing the recreational license program, and managing the land records system 

 Active engagement in CST’s environmental, social, and governance program

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in real estate, forestry, land planning or related field

 Ten years of relevant industry experience

 Current Texas real estate license or ability to obtain the license within two years following hire

 Organization and personnel leadership experience and skill

 Knowledge of purchase and sale agreements, land deeds, title search process, easements, and contract law

 Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

 Proven negotiation and networking skills

 Ability to rapidly research and obtain knowledge relating to alternative business opportunities

 Demonstrated project management, critical thinking, business acumen, and entrepreneurial skills

 Strong technical and analytical aptitude 

 Strong commitment to stewardship, sustainability, and ESG principles
