Elbe Recreation Maintenance Manager, Natural Resource Specialist 2 (NRS2)

Salary: $4,299.00 - $5,783.00 Monthly

Responsibilities:
Project Planning, Management, and Operations 

• This position will provide project management for trail and infrastructure development, improvement, and repair projects. This includes planning for field operations in developed recreation areas, including trail systems, trailheads, and infrastructure such as bridges, kiosks, and covered shelters.

Trail Stewardship (Maintenance and Operations) & Supervision

• Perform light maintenance and minor repairs on trails and at recreation facilities, including cleaning sites, facilities, and structures as needed when on site, and updating informational signage at kiosks.
• Assist other team members on projects as needed or assigned throughout the Elbe Unit.
• Review hazard tree potential on trail systems and have them removed as needed. Is assigned several tools and equipment, including, but not limited to, chainsaws, a generator, and various power tools.
• Routinely operates ATVs, trailers, mini excavators, tractors, and toters for various projects such as hauling rock for trail maintenance. At times, may operate rented equipment. Responsible for the maintenance of all equipment.

Volunteer Coordination and Outreach  

• Develop and foster collaborative partnerships with diverse internal and external interest groups to find creative and innovative solutions.
• Represent the department’s interests when interacting with the public where there are sensitive, complex issues, including forest management activities.
• Act as the department’s representative in responding to constituent or business partner inquiries.

Other Duties as Assigned 

• Perform other job duties as assigned. May be asked to work evenings, holidays, and weekends.
• Attend monthly district meetings and other formal training sessions periodically.
• Participates in region committee and activities (safety, employee advisory team, employee recognition committee, etc.) as assigned or determined through discussions with the supervisor.
• This position may voluntarily participate in DNR’s emergency fire suppression efforts; if so, successful completion of pertinent training will be required. Filling in for staff assigned to fires is required as needed. Ensure that there is adequate staffing in your workgroup when working with the Recreation Manager to determine which employees may be dispatched to fires.
