Deadline: Tue, 12/31/2024 - 12:00pm Employer: Heritage Habitat & Forestry Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Location: West Virginia Location Detail: Charleston, WV Job Description: Forester will be exposed to all aspects of Heritage Habitat & Forestry services, including: Management plan formulation and writing (40% of work) Timber cruising (40%) Timber sale administration (10%) Other associated tasks (10%) Qualifications: 2 or 4-year degree from SAF-accredited college in Forestry or related field Ability to obtain WV Registered Forester license immediately: A bachelor's degree in forestry from a four (4) year school, college or university or a master's degree program from a college or university, accredited by the Society of American Foresters and at least two (2) years of full-time equivalent work experience as a professional forester within ten (10) years preceding the date of filing an application for registration; OR an associate's degree from a two (2) year technical forestry program recognized by the Society of American Foresters plus a bachelor's degree in another natural science or business and at least four (4) years of full-time equivalent work experience in the field of forestry acceptable to the board within the ten (10) years preceding the date of filing an application for registration. Option #2 An earned degree at the baccalaureate, masters or doctorate level in forestry or related natural resources. Examples of "related natural resources" include, but are not limited to, environmental studies, wildlife management, range management, or ecology. The earned degree(s) must have a total of 56 semester credit hours with 51 semester credits as specified in the forestry-related coursework areas a-d and an additional 5 credit hours in any of the forestry-related coursework areas. Miscellaneous: Position involves frequent out of state overnight travel for timber cruising contracts including rare weekend travel and work. Typically, timber cruising assignment includes Sunday travel to lodging, Monday – Saturday cruising, Sunday travel home. In those instances, flex scheduling will be available.
