Employer Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills Research and Facilities Manager for the Darrin Fresh Water Institute, Rensselaer’s field station on Lake George, NY. We are seeking a highly motivated, passionate, and organized ecology and environmental science leader and manager to support and empower research, education, and outreach activities at the Darrin Freshwater Institute, including facilitating research at the Darrin Freshwater Institute, collaborate and assist with laboratory and field research activities, and support the growth of research activities at the field station. The individual will also have responsibilities for the day-to-day operation of the field station, including managing facilities and assets (boats, trucks, trailers, and other equipment) as well as contractor relationships, ordering, invoicing and paying bills, safety and compliance, and managing emergencies. This permanent internally-funded and full-time position will report to the Director, Dr. Kevin Rose, and Associate Director, Dr. Sandra Nierzwicki-Bauer. Located in Bolton Landing, New York, the Darrin Freshwater Institute (DFWI) is a multidisciplinary environmental research center of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute dedicated to understanding the structure and function of aquatic, terrestrial and atmospheric systems. Our primary research focus is on the ecological consequences of environmental perturbations due to human activities in the Northeastern United States. DFWI includes multiple research, outreach, meeting, and housing spaces and has many active research projects involving numerous researchers from Rensselaer and elsewhere.
