Deadline: Tue, 12/12/2023 - 12:00pm Employer: New Mexico State University Job Field: Other Job Type: Full Time Location: New Mexico Location Detail: Las Cruces, New Mexico Job Description: The Jornada Experimental Range seeks a Research Assistant, Sr. (Rangeland Ecology) to join our collaborative team in support of multiple research, monitoring, and restoration projects throughout southern New Mexico and the southwest. This full-time appointment is for one year and includes benefits; extension is contingent upon funding. Field work includes working as a member of a two- to four- person team at remote locations throughout southern NM (possibly the southwest) collecting line-point intercept, gap intercept, plant height, plant production data and possibly digging mini pits and describing soil profiles. Office work includes data entry, error-checking, creating metadata, project management and self-directed work using ArcGIS, MS Excel, MS Access (DIMA), Survey 123. Qualifications: Minimum requirements: bachelor’s degree in ecology, environmental science, range science, soil science, natural resources or related field and five years of experience. Experience identifying plants to species. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple researchers and agency personnel. Strong time management skills. Attention to details. Experience performing self-directed, independent work.
