Deadline: Sat, 12/31/2022 - 12:00pm Employer: LSU AgCenter Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Location: Louisiana Location Detail: Homer Job Description: The incumbent will provide support for the project leader conducting research and extension programs in forestry and wildlife management. Research will be conducted on LSU AgCenter research stations and on-farm locations. The successful candidate will be expected to operate and maintain various types of research equipment associated with the program and use computer software for data management, statistical analysis, and preparation of presentations for the project leader. Other responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, calibrating, operating sprayer equipment, fertilizer applicators, planters, as well as operate tillage implements, and harvesting equipment. Routine duties will include plot establishment and maintenance, data collection and analysis and assist with preparation of reports. During busy times of year, it may be necessary to work beyond the normal 8-hour workday. Travel to off-site locations will be necessary. In addition, the incumbent will have responsibility for supervising other support personnel. Qualifications: A bachelor’s degree in forestry, plant sciences, agronomy, horticulture, plant pest management, other agricultural curriculums or related discipline from an accredited college or university. Other degree may be accepted with experience or education related to job duties. Computer skills required. Experience with field research or plant breeding is preferred. Demonstrated experience with research field equipment operation and maintenance is highly desired. Salary: DOE Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
