Job Description:

• Planning, designing, and executing complex and comprehensive research projects that are applicable to management approaches to conserve and restore assemblages of native freshwater mussels, particularly in the Mississippi River Basin and the Laurentian Great Lakes.

• Applying complex ecological data and comprehensive models to understand individual, population, and community dynamics to inform approaches to conserve and recover mussel assemblages.

• Providing leadership in planning, conducting, and overseeing research involving teams of multidisciplinary and multiagency personnel as applied to the conversation and restoration of native freshwater mussels.

• Publishing results in peer-reviewed outlets and presenting results at regional and national conferences. Ensuring that new research projects are responsive to DOI and USGS needs at a national and regional scale.

• Providing technical support to other federal, state, and tribal management agencies in the form of committee membership and participation to inform conservation and recovery plans, identify data and information gaps, and inform species status assessments and participating in strategic planning and coordination meetings with other USGS, DOI, and State partners.

Salary:
$69,107 (step 1) to $89,835 (step 10); GS-12: $82,830 (step 1) to $107,680 (step 10)
