Job Description:

This dual LTE appointment is comprised of two 20-hour positions for an expected work schedule of 40 hours per week. The intention is to hire one candidate on both positions. 

Position 1:

The Office of Applied Science within the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hiring an Operations Manager and Research Scientist to join the Snapshot Wisconsin Research Program. The Research Scientist will be responsible for the summary and analysis of citizen science data with the goal of ensuring high-quality data is available for downstream decision support products. This position will also be responsible for developing and distributing scientific products including presentations, peer-reviewed publications, and reports. 

Position 2: 

The Office of Applied Science within the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hiring a Research Scientist to join the Snapshot Wisconsin Research Program. The Research Operations Manager will be responsible for directing and managing the daily operations of Snapshot Wisconsin volunteer communications, recruitment, and training, data quality assurance, and scheduled communications.

Qualifications:

Required:

- Experience in statistical analysis including analysis of spatial data

- Experience using research databases

- Experience conducting research data quality control

- Experience leading a research project or technicians 

- Experience managing volunteers 

- Excellent collaboration and communication skills

- Excellent attention to detail

Preferred:

- Experience using R for statistical analysis and/or data wrangling 

- Experience using ArcGIS Tools (e.g. Survey123, ArcPro, StoryMaps)

- Experience writing scientific reports and giving research presentations

- Experience working with citizen or community scientists

- Experience using trail cameras to conduct wildlife research

- Experience documenting IT business needs

 

Salary:
$24.82 per hour
