Deadline: Mon, 05/09/2022 - 12:00pm Employer: University of Georgia Job Field: Wildlife Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: South Carolina Location Detail: Aiken Job Description: Job Description: The University of Georgia’s Savannah River Ecology Lab is soliciting applications for a motivated research technician to assist with a research project focused on estimating abundance of wild pigs using remote cameras and assessing environmental and agricultural damages caused by wild pigs. The project will involve a) conducting remote camera surveys, b) conducting land surveys to assess pig damage, c) communicating with landowners to document damages caused by wild pigs, d) analyzing camera images, and other related duties. The anticipated start is early May, 2022. This position is expected to last through summer but can potentially be extended into the fall. Qualifications: Qualifications: A B.S. in wildlife ecology or a related field, or students working towards a degree in these fields is required. We are looking for self-motivated, responsible, efficient, and enthusiastic individuals, and preference will be given to applicants possessing both strong field and organizational skills. The candidates must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate commitment to timely completion of deliverables, effective communication with the research team, and the ability to work independently and in a team setting. This position will be located at the Savannah River Ecology Laboratory in Aiken, SC. A background check will be required for this position.
