Job Description:

This is professional services work coordinating marine resource management programs focused on native diadromous or “Sea-Run” species in Maine, which include Atlantic salmon, American eel, striped bass, river herring, shad, rainbow smelt, Atlantic and short-nose sturgeon, sea-run brook trout, and sea lamprey. This position will be responsible for administering sea-run fish connectivity and habitat restoration projects as part of a $7.6m program in the Maine Jobs and Recovery Act in coordination with the Maine Coastal Program, developing and coordinating fish passage and habitat restoration projects including grant writing and administration, and providing monitoring, scientific, and planning support for sea-run fish management and conservation across programs. These tasks will often be completed in close coordination with other state and federal agencies, NGO’s, the fishing industry, municipalities, and other interested parties.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific, technical, or engineering discipline, or equivalent in directly related work experience in natural resource program management or position specific expertise.

 

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications for this position include a minimum of two years direct experience or extensive knowledge of diadromous species resource issues. Additional experience we are looking for: strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrated analytical and technical writing skills, program management skills, demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, ability to successfully convey scientific information to nonscientific audiences, experience conducting meetings and building consensus, experience dealing with contentious issues, ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, computer skills, and willingness to travel.

$52,577.82 - $70,901.06
