Deadline: Mon, 02/13/2023 - 12:00pm Employer: Georgia Sea Turtle Center Job Field: Wildlife Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: Georgia Location Detail: Jekyll Island, GA Job Description: Under general supervision and utilizing well-defined objectives and guidelines, provides daily husbandry and animal medical care and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of all Georgia Sea Turtle Center (GSTC) Life Support Systems and specific veterinary hospital facilities. Responsibilities include all aspects of animal husbandry care for the GSTC patients/animal residents, overseeing volunteers working within assigned areas, maintaining designated areas (i.e., commissary and pavilion), and ensuring that all records are up to date and complete. This position is an entry-level position in rehabilitation. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a directly related field (Environmental Biology, Marine Biology, Conservation, etc.); Minimum of one year of experience in an American Zoo and Aquarium (AZA) accredited institution or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite skills, knowledge, and abilities to perform job responsibilities. Experience in aquarium Life Support System design, installation, and maintenance preferred. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays, and be on-call for emergencies. Hours will vary depending on coverage. Possess some knowledge of PVC plumbing and basic hand and power tools. Experience in aquatic animal husbandry care preferred. Must have a valid driver’s license Must be at least 18 years old. Miscellaneous: There is the potential of shared housing being available for $240.00 per month with a $100 security deposit through Jekyll Island Authority. Housing payment will be paid through payroll deduction if housing is available. Housing availability is limited. Salary: $15.00/hr. Non-Exempt, Hourly Benefits: JIA Parking Pass and Amenity Passes.
