Job Description

International Forest Company is seeking a full-time Seed Orchard Technician to be based in Moultrie, Georgia. The position will participate in the management of seed orchards to produce the highest quality seed of genetically improved southern pines. This position is part of a team of Orchard Technicians and will report to the Eastern Seed Orchard Manager. Activities include orchard establishment and maintenance, grafting, fertilizer and herbicide application, controlled mass pollination (CMP) production, and cone harvest.

Seed Orchard Technician tasks and responsibilities include:

• Play a key role in CMP production efforts.

• Care of orchards, equipment, and facilities for development of future cone crops.

• Operation of tractors, forklift, aerial boom lift, UTVs, chainsaws, and power tools.

• Work with internal and external resources to achieve production and research objectives in a safe, efficient manner.

• Maintain detailed records.

Qualifications:

Two- or four-year college degree in forestry or agriculture is preferred. A strong work ethic is essential. Good communication skills and computer proficiency are required. The position will require up to 40% overnight travel.

Position will be hourly, with ample opportunity for overtime. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
