Job Description:

Weyerhaeuser is searching for a Seedling Nursery Production Specialist to join our Southern Regeneration team in Magnolia, AR! This role is within our Southern Timberlands Business and reports to the Nursery Supervisor.

 

As a Nursery Production Specialist, you are a member of a core team accountable for the pine seedling production within the Southern Regeneration business. In this role, team members rotate between activity leadership and team production accountabilities across seasonal workflows.

 

 

 

Key Functions

 

As a Nursery Production Specialist, you will be actively engaged in:

 

Safety – accountable for key safety and/or environmental stewardship activities for the facility (i.e., hearing conservation, hazard communication, etc.)

Crop Management – accountable for executing crop strategy across seasonal workflows to achieve high quality bare-root seedlings

Operational Excellence – engagement on cross functional teams, collaborative projects, and continual pursuit of innovative processes and technologies

Customer & Shareholder Satisfaction – help sow, grow, lift, pack, and ship high quality vigorous bareroot seedlings with a focus on outplanting survival and performance

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree (or higher) in Forestry, Agriculture Engineering, Soil Science, Agronomy OR equivalent combination of work experience and education

Proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Office

Willing to learn forklift, tractor or other heavy equipment operation skills

Ability to safely lift up to 55 pounds

Engage in strenuous work for extended periods of time often in difficult weather conditions

Direct and monitor work of contractors

Excellent communication skills - both written and oral

Strong analytical, problem solving and prioritization skills

Willing and able to work in a diverse team environment

Valid driver's license

Willingness to work extended workdays, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs

Ability to rapidly adjust to changing priorities

Excellent customer focus with a strong desire to deliver the best possible product safely and effectively on time to a diverse customer base

High level of flexibility to manage and work with rapidly changing weather, crop and customer demands which may necessitate unexpected work schedule adjustments

Bilingual in Spanish preferred; at a minimum, the ability to understand and to make one self-understood to all Spanish speaking individuals
