Job Description:

The Natural Resources team at APG Asset Management currently comprises 7 portfolio managers located in Amsterdam, Hong Kong, and New York, managing a global portfolio of natural resources investments with a combined value of approximately US$3.4 billion. The portfolio comprises a mix of fund investments and co-investments and is set to expand further with additions of funds, co-investments, joint-ventures and investor-led platforms with a focus on farmland and timberland. APG Asset Management US is looking to recruit a (Senior) Associate who is capable of supporting the investment management activities of the Natural Resources team in the Americas. The team requires innovative and technically capable analytical support to ensure that the many demands of APG Asset Management’s perpetual investment program are met in a timely and accurate manner. The in person position will be based in New York City.

• Working with other team members to research and analyze potential new investment opportunities;

• Assisting in due diligence and execution of transactions;

• Assisting in the preparation of investment presentations, including financial models;

• Assisting in the preparation of presentation material for internal and external audiences;

• Attending meetings with potential investment partners and conferences to stay up to date with latest developments in the relevant markets;

• Working with other team members on portfolio and asset management by attending regular portfolio update meetings with managers and partners;

• Assisting in the preparation of internal reporting documents;

• Assisting and contributing to various investment management functions, such as performance measurement, forecasting, strategy, and portfolio construction.

• Maintaining relevant portfolio databases, portfolio summary sheets and other relevant information in relation to the Natural Resources portfolio.

• Liaison with global Natural Resource team colleagues in Amsterdam and Hong Kong to exchange ideas and facilitate best investment practices.

• Otherwise fulfill Senior Associate obligations under the Investment Process and Investment Management Process.

Qualifications:

• Graduate degree in related field (e.g., Agriculture Economics or Forest Economics);

• Strong numerical and (data) analytical skills;

• Approximately 2-5 years of relevant working experience;

• High affinity with sustainable farmland and timberland strategies focused on the improvement and/or preservation of natural capital;

• Experience in transaction modelling/underwriting, forecasting, and conducting due diligence;

• Broad minded, creative, and forward thinker with the ability to look outside the normal sources of information and develop independent perspectives;

• Strong team player and communicator with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including the APG Asset Management US risk, legal, and ESG teams;

• Adaptable and able to apply themselves to a broad range of demands;

• Culturally sensitive and capable of working in a diverse team of individuals from different backgrounds; and

• Willingness and ability to undertake regional travel.

Salary:
Based on experience; up to $150,000
