Job Description:

STATE PROFILE SUMMARY: Under limited supervision, provides senior level professional support in environmental services. May also serve in a lead role.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

 

· Under limited supervision as a senior level professional, evaluates the ecological effects of proposed transportation projects.

· Performs habitat analyses, conduct protected species surveys, and delineate streams & wetlands.

· Coordinates with designers to avoid and minimize impacts to ecological resources.

· Prepares reports in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations and coordinate with state and federal agencies to obtain approval in advance of project construction.

· Reviews documentation prepared by environmental consultants.

· Possesses an advanced knowledge of state and federal laws related to ecological resources, specifically the Endangered Species Act, the Clean Water Act, the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation & Management Act, the Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, the Georgia Wildflower Preservation Act, and the Georgia Endangered Wildlife Act.

· Displays an understanding of transportation planning and engineering principles.

· Possesses advanced knowledge of project schedules.

· Understands office and section objectives and helps implement sound strategies to achieve office goals.

· Recollects instructional information that has been presented previously.

· Accurately applies new knowledge and skills learned in work performed.

· Adapts to change, new policies and procedures.

· Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

· Ability to lead people, multi-task, organize, and get results through others.

· Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.

· Strong customer orientation.

· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

· Performs additional duties as assigned.

· Occasional overnight statewide travel, and/or additional hours as needed.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

The selected candidate must meet the advertised minimum qualifications to include State Entry Qualifications as well as Agency Specific Qualifications

 

STATE ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience

OR

· One year of experience at the lower level (RCP142) or position equivalent.

 

AGENCY SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science, or closely related field (Ecology, Biology, etc.) and two years of related experience to include:

· Experience collecting environmental data (i.e., academic or work-related) that requires collaboration with others, the analysis of data/results, and compiling information into written format.

· Experience in composing and preparing written information/materials, including technical reports that communicate facts, ideas, and messages in a succinct and organized manner and is appropriate for the intended audience.

· Experience in reading and understanding plans, maps, and/or aerial photographs.

· Experience in coordinating with designers, environmental specialists, individuals from other offices and/or resource agencies to ensure environmental compliance.

· Knowledge of the sequencing of work activities needed to advance a project through the environmental process and project delivery process.

· Commitment toward high quality work and a high standard of ethical conduct.

 

AGENCY PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

· Possess a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Environmental Science or closely related field.

· Two years of experience in interpreting and applying best practices in the field of Ecology, and in interpreting and applying the Georgia Environmental Policy Act (GEPA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, Georgia Erosion and Sedimentation Act and other applicable laws and regulations

· Knowledge of the organization structure, function of the Department, Plan Development Process and its relationship to project schedules.

· Experience in using ArcGIS, ProjectWise and Primavera P6.

Salary:
$67,155.00
