This is a full-time, exempt position that reports to the Hammond Area Manager, and is based out of our Timberlands office near Hammond, LA. This role involves office and field time to plan and manage the activities required to support sustainable management of the Hammond Area Tree Farm. Key Functions As a Silviculture Forester, you are responsible for the safe implementation of silviculture practices, which include all activities from stand establishment through mid-rotation; field recon/verification; contract administration; and timely updates to ensure financial accuracy. Additionally, you will work together with other team members, the Silviculture Manager, and the Area Manager to execute silviculture plans in compliance with the regional silviculture strategy and the annual plan. The position is area-based, so working together with other functions is critical to the success of the region. Qualifications: Bachelors degree (or higher) in Agriculture, Forestry, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience High level of integrity Proven track record of collaborative decision making. Proactive safety leader with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. Excellent oral and written communication skills Operational experience in project management and contract administration Demonstrated ability to solve problems in a team or individually Capability to prioritize work activities and assignments Ability to drive in all weather and road conditions which may include up to 50% on dirt or gravel Willing and able to support projects or initiatives outside of your function or area Willing to work in a diverse team environment Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments Computer skills: Microsoft Office Suite Sense of curiosity Knowledge of or willingness to learn Weyerhaeuser Silvicultural practices Must be willing to live in or around the Hammond Area (e.g., Baton Rouge, Covington, Mandeville, etc.) Miscellaneous: About Timberlands We believe trees are a remarkable resource that can and should be managed responsibly to make a range of products that meet human needs, while also providing recreation, wildlife habitat, and other important ecosystem benefits.
