Salary: $7,077.00 - $8,253.00 Monthly
To allow for growth and salary progression, the full salary range is: $7,077.00 - $8,687.00 Monthly

Responsibilities:

  • Planning and directing the operation of the statewide DNR Small Forest Landowner Office.
  • Developing new, long-lasting partnerships and connections with small forest landowners and educating them about technical and financial assistance programs.
  • Providing leadership, supervision, direction, coordination, and program planning to statewide SFLO staff to achieve small forest landowner program objectives.
  • Using interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence to develop relationships rooted in acceptance, cooperation, and mutual regard with the public, external partners, and other governmental agencies.
  • Setting and maintaining focus on program priorities.
  • Ensuring the successful implementation of the Forestry Riparian Easement Program (FREP), the Rivers and Habitat Open Space Program (RHOSP), and the Family Forest Fish Passage Program (FFFPP).
  • Overseeing the Small Forest Landowner Regulation Assistance Program.
  • Overseeing the SFLO Education and Outreach Program.

Required Qualifications: 
 

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry, Natural Resource Science/Management, or closely related field, AND four years of experience supervising professional staff in a natural resource program providing services to the public;
    OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience developing budgets.
  • Experience in silvicultural and forest management practices in the Pacific Northwest
  • Proficient with computers and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Proficient at forming collaborative partnerships, finding workable solutions, and negotiating agreements with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with responding to and interacting in a positive, responsive, cooperative, and collaborative manner while interacting with the public and other professionals (both inter-organizational and interdisciplinary).
  • Proficient with and motivated to achieve program-specific desired outcomes while managing competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
