Job Description:

The Wildlife Conservation Section is offering 1 seasonal position for winter 2022-spring 2023. The employee will primarily be working on small mammal data processing for Georgia. Applicants must be willing to work on the computer for 8 hrs/day, 5 days per week. Primary duties will include processing and submitting bat acoustic data to the North American Bat Monitoring Program (NABat) and conducting small mammal data QC and entry into the NatureServe Biotics database. On-the-job training is available for all data processing and entry. Other activities may include occasional fieldwork including bat hibernacula surveys, checking camera traps, or other small mammal survey work as needed. Any travel to study sites will be by state vehicle, and travel expenses will be reimbursed. Lodging will be provided during surveys and can be provided for entire six-month term, if needed.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have a valid class C driver’s license. Applicants must have some college-level coursework in ecology, wildlife biology, or a related field. Applicants should be comfortable performing tedious data entry and other computer-based work independently of their supervisor.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to individuals that have experience with processing and submitting data to NABat and/or NatureServe Biotics. Some experience using ArcGIS is also preferred.

Duration: December through May, flexible depending on availability (limited term of 6-months)

Salary:
$13.00 per hour; 40 hrs/week
