Employer The University of New Hampshire Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills Description:The University of New Hampshire is seeking 2 Field Research Interviewers to support the National Visitor Use Monitoring (NVUM) Program on the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in Wisconsin in October and November 2025. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on field experience in outdoor recreation and social science research The National Visitor Use Monitoring program has two concurrent goals. First, to produce estimates of the volume of recreation visitation to National Forests. Second, to produce descriptive information about that visitation, including activity participation, demographics, visit duration, measures of satisfaction, and trip spending connected to the visit.Conduct on-site, face-to-face surveys with recreation visitors across diverse forest sites throughout the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest in WisconsinSupport data collection on visitor demographics, activities, satisfaction, trip spending, and more.Dates: October 1 – November 30, 2025 Qualifications: Commit to the entire 2-month study periodAbility to work independently in remote locations and in all weather conditionsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills and knowledge and skill in written/oral communicationResponsible individual with polite, courteous, and friendly demeanorAbility to conduct verbal interviews, follow directions, read maps, use tablet computers, proficiency with a laptop computerBe at least 20 years of age Have a valid US driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record required to operate a USFS vehicle Able to drive long distances in varied terrainBe able to pass a background check.
