This position will represent the DNR’s interests to Tribal partners, user groups, businesses, governmental officials, and the public where there is involvement in complex, sensitive issues affecting the district or programs. A central role of this position is to communicate DNR’s current and future plans with user groups, volunteers, adjacent landowners, tribes, the general public, and other government entities. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: --A bachelor’s degree in forest management, recreation, ecology, business, or natural resource management or a closely related field, OR a combination of education and/or experience equivalent. --5 years of experience managing forest land and/or natural resource recreation to include 2 years of personnel management experience. --Professional Experience in: -Tracking budgets including grant-funded projects -Project management -Managing personnel and directing the activities of a diverse, professional staff. -Maintaining a safe working environment by prioritizing, communicating, and demonstrating safe practices. -Trust land management and principles, DNR’s Habitat Conservation Plan, forest practice rules, and the Policy for Sustainable Forests. -The State Environmental Policy Act, recreation on public lands, and Washington’s Multiple Use Act -Facilitation, collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution -Setting performance standards and expectations, training, developing, evaluating, coaching, and documenting performance. -Demonstrated ability to motivate and hold staff accountable using performance-based recognition.
