Job Description:

Native Fish Society seeks a full-time seasonal Umpqua National Forest Fisheries Intern to work directly with the Umpqua National Forest on fisheries fieldwork. This work includes, but is not limited to, conducting fish habitat surveys, electroshocking, aquatic invertebrate surveys, and road surveys to support aquatics input for landscape restoration and aquatic restoration projects. This position may include data management (entering year-end accomplishments electronically and entering data collected over the summer).

 

The position will report directly to the Umpqua National Forest Fisheries Department and the Native Fish Society’s Southern Oregon Coordinator.

Qualifications:

Ability to take direction from supervisors, work in a team setting

 

Good written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

 

Savvy with basic technology like Microsoft Office suite

 

Able to lift and carry up to 50lbs, capable of hiking in and around rough terrain

 

Capable of swimming

 

Have valid drivers license

Miscellaneous:

Housing may be available upon request. F​irst come, first serve at USFS Toketee (45 min to Glide, cell service exists for folks with Verizon as a provider) or potential housing available at USFS Housing Steamboat (30 min to Glide, no cell service, no wifi provided).

Salary:
Compensation will be in 4 monthly stipends of $3,390 on the last Tuesday of each month for a total of $13,560.
