SPARCnet RaMP: Training the next generation of interdisciplinary scientists to collaboratively address species responses to climate change

We are excited to continue our National Science Foundation (NSF) Research and Mentoring for Postbaccalaureates (RaMP) in Biological Sciences program. Our program, RaMP: Training the next generation of interdisciplinary scientists to collaboratively address species responses to climate change with SPARCnet is using SPARCnet methods to lead three cohorts of 8-10 postbaccalaureate researchers in paid, mentored research with SPARCnet collaborators. Postbaccs will have the opportunity to build their science skills through independent and team-based research projects, professional development, and networking opportunities.

This is an opportunity for undergraduates that have recently finished their programs and looking for an experience in research and professional development focused on salamander ecology.

This is part of a National Science Foundation Research and Mentoring Postbaccalaureates (RaMP) Program grant and the goal is "to train individuals for a range of potential career pathways in the biological sciences including: research-focused M.S. or Ph.D. graduate programs; entry-level positions in industry, federal, tribal, or state agencies, education and research centers, or not-for-profit science-based organizations; or other STEM careers." In particular, NSF has tasked RaMP programs to focus their recruiting efforts on: "Individuals from groups underrepresented in STEM, first generation college students, and students at under-resourced institutions [who] frequently have limited opportunities to participate in the undergraduate research experiences that are necessary to be competitive for graduate programs or other STEM career pathways."

Post-baccalaureates interested in research who may not have had strong research experiences as undergraduates but are interested in a career in STEM.
