Employer University of Georgia's Savannah River Ecology Laboratory Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills The field technician will provide critical field support for a recently funded project focused onspotted turtles. Field activities include aquatic trapping, handling and marking of turtles, bloodcollection and sample processing, and radio-telemetry at two installations in Virginia. Thetechnician will also have regular data entry and management responsibilities. The technicianmay also on occasion assist other project personnel at other installations in VA/MD.The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to report writing and will have theopportunity to participate in communicating project results through scientific publications and/orpresentations at scientific conferences.The person in this position will be an important liaison with the project PIs from three performingorganizations, as well as natural resource staff and other personnel at two installations inVirginia. A high degree of professionalism and excellent communication skills are a must. As theonly project personnel based in the Chesapeake Bay area, candidates must be highlyindependent, self-motivated and well-organized.This position is funded for up to 2.5 years, renewable annually contingent on satisfactoryperformance by the employee.Preference will be given to applicants willing to commit to more than one year. Preferred start date 1 March 2025 Required SkillsStrong preference will be given to applicants who have successfully completed a graduate ofmaster’s degree program in natural sciences. Graduates from an undergraduate program insciences that have extensive additional relevant field and/or laboratory experience may beconsidered. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to work independently but also bewilling to serve in a support role working with a variety of other people. A positive attitude,strong work ethic, and good communications skills are all a must.
