Deadline: Sat, 05/13/2023 - 12:00pm Employer: Texas A&M Forest Service Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Location: Texas Location Detail: Lufkin Job Description: This position will provide constantly evolving, scientific knowledge about the establishment, growth, productivity, vigor and sustainability of forests to all agency, consulting and industry foresters. Educating landowners and the public about forest science, management, uses and benefits of forests. Provide silvicultural strategies to meet a broad range of ownership objectives, including those landowners objectives common with small-acreage tracts. This position will be responsible for supporting, delivering and/or leading all efforts under the silviculture program Occasional duties: The forester must perform related duties when required and is encouraged to be involved with the local community and professional activities not specifically related to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Forestry with emphasis forest management or closely related course of study from a SAF Accredited Forestry Degree Program. Applicants should demonstrate a strong background in southern silviculture. Experience managing large natural resource assistance projects is preferred. The candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills (written and verbally), strong problem solving skills, strong project management skills, strong analytical skills, and be able to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. Miscellaneous: Outdoor field work is required. The applicant should show evidence in his/her ability to perform field work, work both independently and with a team in the field, and perform field work for extended periods of time.
