Employer Georgia Forestry Commission Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Conduct timber cruising, stand mapping, timber harvest inspections, SMZ line marking, and timber marking - Conduct security load ticket reconciliation related to timber sales - Locate and mark State Property Boundaries and timber sale boundaries - Conduct seedling planting and survival surveys - Perform daily checks of equipment and routine maintenance and occasional repair - Construct and maintain facilities, inspect roads and grounds and perform maintenance as needed - Install repair and maintains fences, signs, and gates - Conduct stump cruises related to timber transaction complaints - Collect GIS data - Treat, monitor, and control invasive species - Assist with logistics or as needed on wildfires - Job duties are subject to change as circumstances dictate.• Field work will require extended work outdoors. Applicants should expect extremely hot and humid conditions, as well as exposure to insects/wildlife common to Georgia. Student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in forestry, forest resources, or closely related major which includes core forestry coursework, from an SAF accredited school. Excellent customer service and organizational skills. Proficient in Excel, Word and other Microsoft Office applications. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS –Rising seniors pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in forestry, forest resources, or closely related major which includes core forestry coursework, from an SAF accredited school.
