Employer Athens Land Trust Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills Position Summary The Stewardship Coordinator leads Athens Land Trust’s land stewardship efforts within the Conservation program. They oversee all aspects of outreach, support, resource delivery, and relationship management with landowners who have conservation easements with Athens Land Trust. The Stewardship Coordinator works closely with the Director of Conservation to meet the organization’s long-term requirements to monitor and protect more than 20,000 acres of permanently conserved land across Georgia. Key Responsibilities Lead annual monitoring visits to all 120+ conservation easements held by Athens Lands Trust in 42 counties across the state, including landowner outreach, visit coordination, travel logistics, and site visit documentationBuild productive, working relationships with all 100+ landowners who have conservation easements with the organization Field all questions or concerns from landowners in a timely manner, including requests to undertake permitted activities, clarifications about prohibited activities, and other issues Work with the Director of Conservation to identify any landowners requests or issues that require Conservation Committee or Board of Directors review Identify potential problems early in the course of stewardship activities, such as imminent or current easement violations and negative impacts on protected natural resources Maintain accurate contact data and easement information through regular and careful data clean-up Keep thorough records from all monitoring visits using organizational record keeping policies Track all progress toward annual stewardship goals for the Conservation program Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with organizational financial policies Lead the planning and execution of quarterly events with landowners around the state, including educational opportunities, fundraisers, and networking events Deliver new resources for landowners based on identified needs, including resources developed by Athens Land Trust and those from state and national partner organizations Work collaboratively with the Conservation team, including Director, Young Conservation Stewards Coordinator, Conservation Committee members, interns, and volunteers.Additional Requirements for All EmployeesMaintain regular in-office hours to answer email and phone inquiries, contribute to program needs, and coordinate with fellow staff Contribute to newsletters, monthly and annual reports, brochures and other educational materials as related to program(s) of primary responsibility as well as overall organization Assist with fundraising, including, but not limited to, grant applications, special events, and meeting with potential donors Attend staff meetings and prepare detailed timesheets Be part of a team—provide support for all staff members in their respective duties Qualifications The Stewardship Coordinator is an individual with excellent attention to detail, high ethical standards, and the ability to connect with people from all walks of life. They actively seek opportunities to build relationships with landowners and have a track record of engaging diverse groups—public, private, and nonprofit—to deliver high quality land stewardship.
