Job Description:

The School for Field Studies seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative individual to join the SFS Student Life team. The Student Life Coordinator will serve as the point person in the Student Life Department for coordinating the medical review process for students applying to SFS programs. This position will play an important role in reviewing medical documents during high-volume periods of the year (April-August, October – January) and respond to medical questions related to vaccinations, medications, insurance, etc.

 

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

 

Sending reminders to students about deadlines, communicating important changes to COVID entry requirements, and other health related concerns for travelers, etc.

Review current Student Life emails to ensure information is properly communicated.

Respond to inquiries from students and parents regarding medical requirements

Update the SFS Medical Review Guide and SFS Medical Salesforce materials

Troubleshoot issues in Salesforce

Counsel admitted students prior to their semester with SFS about resources, in-country support, and provide feedback regarding medical conditions and our ability our ability to accommodate.

Assist Student Life Department with reviewing and updating admissions materials, program descriptions, packing lists, pre-departure materials, the SFS Policies & Procedures Manual, and specific Center Field Guides to ensure students have the most accurate information.

Assist Director of Student Life with developing and facilitating workshops and internal training for related to SFS policies, health and wellness, safety and risk management, and best practices.

With Student Life Director, review on-call procedures, COVID policies, risk management plans.

Assist Student Life Director review departmental goals to develop annual strategic plan.

Collaborate with the Institutional Relations, Admissions team, and Student Life Director to develop and assist with delivery of pre-departure orientations every semester.

Will coordinate with in-country staff to schedule pre-departure orientations in August, January, and May (Summer I and II and an orientation in May) and make any updates to the pre-departure orientation template.

Serve in the on-call duty rotation for emergency response for SFS.

Qualifications:

Desired Qualifications

 

Master’s degree in Counseling, Student Affairs, Social Work, or equivalent

Experience with emergency response on a college campus and/or abroad

Familiarity with industry standards regarding H&W and risk management in remote locations

Experience with Salesforce CRM and Microsoft 365

Experience leading student groups abroad or in a remote, wilderness setting

Current certification in Remote Emergency Response (WAFA, WFR, EMT)

Previous conduct manager and/or CARE Team experience in a college setting

 

Required Qualifications

 

Bachelor’s Degree

International work experience

Experience with advising or mentoring young adults in a professional capacity

Ability to maintain confidentiality through job responsibilities and communication

Strong customer service and professional communication skills

Strong understanding of mental health support in remote environments, advanced medical conditions that may be concerning in a remote environment and must be comfortable having conversations with students about advanced medical and mental health concerns.

Miscellaneous:

SFS is currently accepting applications for candidates residing in the following states: Arizona, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maine, Minnesota, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Virginia and Washington. Employer work visa sponsorship and support are not provided for this role. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at hire and must maintain authorization to work in the United States throughout their employment with SFS.

Salary:
$60,000 - $65,000
