Camp Kiwanis is located on the scenic Broad River twenty-two miles from the University of Georgia in Athens. A place where experiential education is blended with our belief that each program must instill a sense of belonging, sense of competence, sense of usefulness & a sense of control or influence over ones own life.

 

Statement of Purpose for Camp Kiwanis

 

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta seeks to achieve its mission's outcomes by providing a residential camping program at Camp Kiwanis. Camp Kiwanis' programs will focus on promoting an increased awareness, appreciation, and knowledge of the natural environment and the impact our members can have on influencing the wise management of our natural resources. Through small groups and personal experiences, members will experience the results of their goal setting decisions and problem solving opportunities in the out of doors. Knowledge, skills, and attitudes gained from the "Camp Kiwanis Experience" will be presented as {personal growth experiences} that can be applied to our members daily lives.

 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

The job is both demanding and rewarding as you become like a parent to 10 young men or women. You will have the help of a Counselor in Training and the support of a head counselor and program director. Your job is to provide leadership, guidance, training and supervision to campers in such a way as to provide for their health, safety and happiness. You and your campers will have fun participating in all the camp activities (i.e. archery, nature study, outdoor cooking, kayaking, group initiative games…etc.)

Qualifications:

Need male AND female counselors -19 or older.

A good role model

Available to live/work at a resident camp: Monday – Friday

Available late May-Mid July

Love for the Outdoors!

Salary:
400-500/week + room & board
