Job Description:

Description: The primary purpose of this position is to give support to Westervelt’s Sustainability and Government Relations Group and allow the intern to gain practical experience in the field of sustainability, ESG, and carbon/climate issues, and engaging in the public policy process as it pertains to Westervelt’s core businesses. Duties will include research and assistance in developing ESG reporting options, carbon footprint enhancement, environmental policy research and political engagement. The position will also include opportunities to understand how our Forest Resources, Ecological Services, and Wood Products businesses function with respect to sustainability and government relations.

Position will require relocation to Tuscaloosa, AL. Housing or housing allowance will be provided.

Qualifications:

· Current undergraduate or graduate student in Forestry, Sustainability, Natural Resource Policy, or related field.

· Knowledge of general outdoor and forestry skills.

· Well-developed communication and people skills. Ability to effectively work in a team environment with employees and external associates.

· Knowledge and passion of the concept of balancing economic, environmental, and social values.

· Must be highly motivated and willing to work independently, as well as within teams.

· Work schedules will be adjusted to the requirements of the activities and projects.

· Understanding of general carbon cycle and carbon accounting concepts is desirable.
