Westervelt Summer Internship - Forestry

We are looking for Forestry interns to work with our team for the Summer of 2025. 

The primary purpose of this position is to give support to the Westervelt Forest Resources Group and allow the intern to gain practical experience in the field of Forest Management.  Duties will include the areas of harvest planning & operations, roadwork, silviculture planning & operations, nursery & seed orchard, and BMP implementation.

Position will require relocation to Tuscaloosa, AL,  Thomasville, AL, Fargo, GA or Statesboro, GA.  Housing or housing allowance will be provided.

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in Forestry, or related field.
  • Must have completed summer camp.
  • Knowledge of general outdoor skills.
  • Well-developed communication and people skills.
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment with associates and customers.
  • Good physical condition and ability to perform under adverse climatic working conditions and difficult terrain.
  • Ability to work outside, often for long periods on foot.
  • Be able to safely operate a 4-wheel drive pickup. Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be highly motivated.
  • Work schedules will be adjusted to the requirements of the activities and projects.
