Position Overview
Westervelt Wood Products is seeking a motivated intern to join our Wood Procurement Group for the Summer of 2026. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to gain practical experience in forest management, wood procurement, and operational planning. The intern will work closely with experienced professionals in harvest planning, BMP (Best Management Practices) implementation, relationship development, and project management.

This position requires relocation to Moundville, Alabama.  Housing or a housing allowance will be provided.
 

Key Responsibilities
Assist with harvest planning and operational logistics
Support BMP implementation and compliance monitoring
Participate in relationship-building with landowners and contractors
Contribute to project management and field assessments
Operate 4WD vehicles safely in various terrain and weather conditions
Collaborate with team members and customers in both field and office settings

Requirements
Current undergraduate or graduate student in Forestry or a related field
Completion of summer camp coursework
Strong general outdoor skills and physical fitness
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a 4WD pickup truck
Highly motivated and adaptable to dynamic work schedules

$20.00 per hour for undergraduate students
$22.00 per hour for graduate students
