Job Description:

Trees Atlanta is a nationally recognized non-profit community group that protects and improves Atlanta’s urban forest by planting, conserving, and educating. Founded in 1985, Trees Atlanta works tirelessly to address Atlanta’s tree loss, protect its forests, and create new greenspace. Empowered by its wonderful community of volunteers, Trees Atlanta serves the metro Atlanta area, and has grown to become one of Atlanta’s most widely known and supported non-profit organizations.

 

The System Analyst will manage Trees Atlanta’s data systems and technology. Their major responsibility is the system administration of ArcGIS and Salesforce. Other software and data management tasks will also be required. You will collaborate with and support Trees Atlanta’s planting and conservation program teams and work with development and marketing as part of the administrative team.

 

Trees Atlanta staff use ArcGIS and Salesforce in their daily work. The System Analyst owns these systems and is our go-to person to troubleshoot, answer questions, maintain accurate data, and implement updates, as necessary.

The right candidate may be a talented professional early in their career who has already demonstrated the capacity to learn quickly and can show specific results in past roles. The candidate may also have more years of experience in a different industry and seeks to transfer their expertise and skills to the nonprofit sector. Job Description

 

Administration of hosted feature layers and data tools in ArcGIS Online including regular backups, schema updates, bulk imports and exports, and interoperability

Administration of Salesforce instance and associated apps, including users, permissions, object schema, and key reports and dashboards

Enable and coordinate volunteers to assist in field verification of tree data, as needed.

Export, clean, and transfer data sets between platforms; troubleshoot technical issues

Build custom reports and dashboards to monitor key performance metrics and assist program teams to identify data-driven decision points

Design and implement system enhancements such as automations, cross-system integrations, new workflows, and data tools

Train existing and new staff, as necessary, and keep related training and resource guides updated

Support the data portion of occasional large events, such as collaborating with program leads to upload online inventory and monitor transaction data on Square (eCommerce software) for two plant and tree sales each year and a ticketing software used to support our annual gala.

Act as key contact for project needs which require data collection in ArcGIS, including community tree inventories and maps for the One Million Trees Initiative, Neighborhood Arboreta and Atlanta Champion Trees.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years extensive experience with ESRI ArcGIS products and working knowledge of GIS concepts

Experience developing or managing database systems similar in complexity and design such as Salesforce or equivalent

Knowledge of relational databases, data modeling and data visualization techniques and tools

Strong competence using Google Suite and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Google Sheets

Excellent project management competency, including managing task teams comprised of colleagues, external vendors/contractors, and/or volunteers to meet deadlines and deliverables

Natural ability to think critically with an open mind, problem solve, leverage resources, discover creative solutions, and use data as a storytelling tool

Ability to communicate complex ideas in clear and concise manner

College or technical degree with relevant course of study, or substantial work experience directly related to the work described above (if the latter, please fully indicate your experience in your cover letter)

Salary:
$38,000 - $48,000 Yearly (Commensurate with experience)
