Deadline: Mon, 03/11/2024 - 12:00pm Employer: Utah State University Job Field: GIS/Technology Job Type: Full Time Location: Utah Location Detail: Logan, Utah Job Description: ● Course Instruction: Teach up to 18 credits per academic year (equivalent to six 3-credit courses) focusing on critical thinking and practical skill development and applying best practices for inclusive pedagogies. Courses will focus on Remote Sensing and GeoAI foundations and applications but may also include courses in other areas of the Department’s degree programs. Courses will be taught at both undergraduate and graduate levels and may be delivered via online, in-person, or in a blended format, with the greater weight towards online deliveries. ● Curriculum Development: Develop courses related to remote sensing and GeoAI utilizing effective and innovative teaching methods to engage students and facilitate a dynamic learning environment. Maintain relevancy of curriculum by keeping pace with industry advancements in Remote Sensing and GeoAI. Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the curriculum in alignment with departmental goals. ● Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay abreast of emerging technologies, pedagogical approaches, and best practices in the relevant subject areas. ● Student Mentoring: Provide academic guidance and mentorship to a diverse set of students pursuing interests in geospatial fields. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes student success. Qualifications: ● A master’s degree or higher at date-of-hire in geography or related quantitative field with a focus on geospatial science in a human-environment context. ● Demonstrated expertise in remote sensing and geospatial artificial intelligence. ● For appointment as a Professional Practice Assistant Professor, substantial relevant professional experience outside of academia in the application of remote sensing and/or geospatial artificial intelligence. ● PhD in geography or related field. ● Prior teaching experience, with an emphasis on developing and delivering innovative courses in geospatial science of human-environment interactions. ● A demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate in an interdisciplinary academic setting. ● Experience with or the desire to learn about distance and online course delivery. ● Demonstrated ability to contribute to a learning community of diverse members and foster a sense of belonging for all students.
