The School of Graduate Studies serves about 1,400 and offers doctoral degree programs in Applied Physics, Food Science, Plant/Soil Science and Reading/Literacy.

 

Job Description:

Summary:

 

Work with a team to install, measure, monitor, collect and analyze samples from forests planted under the USDA CRP program in southeastern United States. Temporary field position.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The primary position responsibilities are measuring forest vegetation, collecting soil and biomass samples, processing and analyzing samples in the laboratory, and recording data with proper documentation. The position will be supervised in the field by the project's Lead Research Technician.

 

The above essential duties are representative of major duties in this position. Specific duties and responsibilities may vary based upon departmental needs. Other duties may be assigned in addition to those above, consistent with the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job. Not all the duties may be assigned to a position.

Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):

 

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: Relevant experience related to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above.

Must have a valid US driver's license.

 

Substitutions: An equivalent combination of related education and related experience may be considered for this position.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to drive long distances and spend long days in the field.

Ability to work with others.

Ability to walk long distances and carry 30+ pounds of gear.

Knowledge of and use of MS Office.

Good organizational skills.

Ability to pay attention to detail.

 

Working Conditions and Physical Effort:

 

Regularly involves lifting bending or other physical exertion. Often exposed to one or more elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, etc., with one often to the point of being objectionable.

The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.

Salary:
