Job Description:

The Timber Sale Administration Forester is a professional position responsible for sharing logging contract administration duties on approximately 160,000 acres of Indian Trust timberland that produces approximately 47 million board feet annually. This position provides project-level oversight in implementing and monitoring timber harvest contracts and other permits within the Quinault Indian Reservation. The QDNR is committed to the professional development of team members and opportunities exist within the organization to grow into long-term career paths in the natural resources field.

 

Primary Functions:

• Develop and approve a logging plan for each harvest unit that outlines the methods, timing, and general operations needed to complete the terms of the sale contract

• Oversee the accountability of scaled volume from harvest units

• Ensure operator compliance with contract provisions, the Forest Management Plan, and other QIN regulations

• Initiate correspondence with purchasers regarding contracts, approvals, invoicing, obligations, and closures

• Resolve issues or violations occurring under harvest operations or timber trespass incidents

• Review and contributes to harvest proposals originating from pre-sales staff

• Maintain strong business relationships with local industry and other stakeholders

• Communicate management objectives to Tribal officials, trust landowners, and operators

• Provide input to all forest management activities as a member of the QDNR Interdisciplinary Team

Qualifications:

• Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree with major study in forest management or other related natural resource field, plus two years of related experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Forest Management or related study and previous experience with harvest layout, scaling, compliance monitoring, and GIS is preferred

• The successful candidate must be able to pass a federal background check, drug screening, and hold or have the ability to obtain a valid Washington State driver’s license

• Candidates must have the ability to work outdoors in inclement weather and rugged terrain

Miscellaneous:

Signing Bonus: $8,500.00

Salary:
$55,000-$69,250
