Job Description: Summary Examples of duties: Assist UCF staff with implementation and monitoring of IRA funded grant projects and provide technical urban forestry assistance to under resourced communities. Perform site visits and performance checks on grant projects and recipients Provide urban forestry technical assistance to communities in underserved areas of the state Provide technical training to municipal staff Assist grants staff to ensure completion of all required paperwork and reports adhering to federal, state, and agency requirements Participate in the grant review and award process Coordinate grant project public information and media content with Communications Staff Develop outreach materials and facilitate public relations activities with grant recipients Coordinate with partner organizations’ Outreach Coordinators to implement state-wide and local programming Assist with GIS mapping of GFC community forestry grant projects Outreach to local contacts in underserved areas to develop working relationships and provide technical urban forestry guidance Assist with management of the Tree City/Tree Campus USA program by reviewing applications and assisting communities and schools with completing applications Other administrative tasks as assigned Additional Responsibilities with Preferred Qualifications Assist sub-grant recipients to plan and conduct tree planting and tree giveaway events Provide technical assistance such as revising ordinances, conducting tree assessments/inventories, training tree care workers, advising on storm planning and recovery, and educating elected officials, municipal staff and the general public on tree care issues particularly in disadvantaged and underserved communities Assist with educational publication and material distribution Support U&CF Program Coordinator with state and regional organization board responsibilities Qualifications: Minimum qualifications: Completion of an undergraduate major in forestry at an accredited four-year college or university with 1-year of relevant Urban and Community Forestry work experience OR completion of an undergraduate degree in a related major at an accredited four-year college or university with 3-years or more of relevant work experience in Urban and Community Forestry OR extensive work experience (5+ years) in Urban and Community Forestry in lieu of an undergraduate degree Ability to obtain ISA certification within one year of hire Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Excellent customer service and communication skills Experience speaking to small and large audiences about a variety of natural resources issues Experience managing and overseeing grant awardees. Preferred qualifications: A stand-alone degree with an urban forestry major, or an emphasis area in urban forestry within a forest management degree. ISA Certified Arborist. A minimum of three years’ experience assisting communities/community groups/non-profits involved in urban forestry and urban interface issues Experience organizing planting or other community events and workshops Experience managing and implementing sub award grant programs. Salary: $52,000 - $62,469/yr depending on experience & qualifications (Funded through a four-year federal grant from the Inflation Reduction Act)
