The Undergraduate Water Resources Certificate prepares students for related careers in environmental science and management. The Program provides a common curriculum to meet the educational needs of the next generation of environmental scientists and managers. Many of the courses provide hands-on experiences in an outdoor setting to learn about water resources. The purpose of the program is to train students to manage our scarce water resources for the maximum benefit of the world’s population, while at the same time preserving the ecologic integrity of our aquatic resources. Course Requirements Enrolled undergraduate students complete three credit hours in five of the following six categories: UG1: Water Resource Foundations UG2: Water Quality Foundations UG3: Hydrologic Processes UG4: Biological Interactions UG5: Management, Economics, and Policy UG6: Applications A partial list of classes that can be used to complete these requirements is available at: List of Undergraduate Classes Seminar Requirement A second requirement is the completion of the seminar series, where attendance is documented by providing a one-paragraph summary of the presentation to Isabel Reuter. Current seminars can be found on the sidebar, We may not keep pace with seminars, so you may find these through various departmental seminar series. You may substitute up to three online, water-related seminars for three in-person seminars, with a total of six seminars write-ups. If your schedule does not allow for you to attend seminars in person, you can watch eight online water-related seminars with a total of eight seminar write-ups.
