Prepare all grant paperwork such as Requests for Proposals (RFPs), grant agreements, report forms, etc,  Monitor sub-grants and ensure completion of all required paperwork and reports; adhering to federal, state, and agency requirements; Organize and lead grant review panel to determine grant recipients. Utilize the Submittable grant platform to manage the sub-grant programs. Promote grant programs through email, social media posts, news releases, newsletters, and articles for various publications. Handle all communication with applicants and recipients such as communities, educational institutions, and non-profit organizations to provide guidance on grant procedures, protocols, and requirements. Conduct grant workshops virtually and in-person to inform and advise potential grant applicants. Outreach to local contacts in underserved areas to develop working relationships and provide guidance with potential grant projects. Process grant payments abiding by federal, state and agency regulations and requirements. Budget and track grant awards and other expenses. Manage the Tree City/Tree Campus USA program by reviewing applications and assisting communities and schools with completing applications. Other administrative tasks as assigned. Remote/Hybrid work possible, with flexibility for GFC office location.

Additional Responsibilities with Preferred Qualifications: Assist sub-grant recipients to plan and conduct tree planting and tree giveaway events. Provide presentations and education to various audiences regarding community forestry and grant opportunities. Provide technical assistance such as revising ordinances, conducting tree assessments/inventories, training tree care workers, advising on storm planning and recovery, and educating elected officials, municipal staff, and the general public on tree care issues particularly in disadvantaged and underserved communities.   Assist with educational publication and material distribution. Support U&CF Program Coordinator with state and regional organization board.

Minimum qualifications:  Completion of an undergraduate degree, preferably related to natural resources, at an accredited four-year university and extensive work experience (3+ years) working with administration and grants management, particularly federal grants. Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; excellent customer service and communication skills; experience speaking to small and large audiences. 

Qualifications:

Master's degree relevant to the specific subprogram area from an Society of American Foresters (SAF) accredited college or university can be substituted for two of the three years of job related forestry experience OR Bachelor's degree in forestry, forest resources, or closely related area that includes core forestry coursework from an Society of American Foresters (SAF) accredited college or university AND Three years of job related forestry experience OR One year of experience required at the lower level Forester 3 (NRP022) or position equivalent.
