Job Description:

American Conservation Experience, a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), is seeking 4 members (2 teams of 2) to assist in the completion of energy and water evaluations at select FWS field stations. These evaluations aim to satisfy statutory requirements under Section 432 of the Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA). To meet EISA Section 432 requirements, federal agencies must identify "covered facilities" that make up at least 75% of their total energy consumption, and conduct energy and water evaluations at each of these facilities every four years to identify potential energy and water conservation measures. FWS has more than 150 covered facilities nationwide, and during this term, each team will travel to approximately 20 National Wildlife Refuges. ACE Members will be responsible for carrying out on-site evaluations of buildings, engaging with refuge managers and staff, collecting and analyzing relevant data, and generating reports.

Facilities on this year's audit cycle include the National Elk Refuge & Greater Yellowstone Visitor Center in Wyoming, the National Bison Range Complex in Montana, Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge in Colorado and numerous other sites spread across the Pacific, Mountain-Prairie, and Midwest regions.

This is a traveling position with no home base, meaning that candidates must be willing to work and live on the road with another team member for the duration of the term (approx. 4 months). All lodging and transportation will be provided for the duration of the term, and a food stipend will be provided during travel days. Individual applicants and teams of two are encouraged to apply.
