Deadline: Sat, 11/26/2022 - 12:00pm Employer: Mason, Bruce & Girard Job Field: Forestry Job Type: Full Time Location: California Location Detail: Humbolt Job Description: General position summary: A Utility Roads Technician at MB&G works directly with Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) to inventory and map utility access roads. You will be exposed to multiple ways of collecting tabular and spatial data around utility infrastructure. This is an exciting position and opportunity. The position is in Humboldt, Mendocino, and Sonoma Counties, California. The successful candidate is required to live in one of these counties and have a 4x4 vehicle that can operate on utility and forest roads. Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities: • Support of MB&Gs efforts collecting utility data. • Using data collection applications, including ESRI Field Maps to map and navigate roads leading to PG&E’s equipment in high fire threat areas. • Prescribe work to PG&E managed access roads when needed. • Identify features which may hinder access to PG&E’s equipment: customer gates, bridges, overgrown vegetation, etc. • Coordinate with PG&E’s customers when needed to access properties where PG&E equipment is located. • Use ESRI online maps to review field data and ensure connectivity between mapped features. • Leads the preparation of reports summarizing and comparing results. • Coordinate with project leadership to ensure safety protocols and data goals are being reached. • Manages time to meet objectives of multiple concurrent projects. • Operates independently under minimal supervision. • Job may be supervisory as needed to accomplish project-related tasks. • Actively promotes MB&G as a premier provider of natural resource consulting services. Job Skills: • BS in forestry, forest management or similar natural resource related field. • 1-3 years’ experience as a forest technician, forester or forest/GIS analyst. • Combination of education and experience. • Field experience in Humboldt, Mendocino, or Sonoma Counties is strongly desired. • Experience working with or for PG&E is strongly desired. • Beginner understanding of MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. • Beginner to intermediate knowledge of ESRI products. • Understanding and practice of spatial concepts and mapping techniques. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • Proven ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines. • Strong attention to detail. • Excellent time management skills. • Responsive and client service oriented.
