Crew Member:

Help protect Boulder’s diverse and unique natural resources. OSMP’s Vegetation Management team conducts long-term, watershed level invasive species management and restoration practices on natural lands in order to maintain and restore ecosystem function. This position requires hiking up to 10 hours a day, carrying equipment such as hand tools, power tools and herbicide, and working outside in inclement weather and mountainous terrain. The job demands sustained focus, attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset. Crew Members will have the opportunity to gain technical certifications and learn new skills and best practices related to vegetation management and ecological restoration.

 

Assistant Crew Lead:

OSMP’s Vegetation Management team conducts long-term, watershed level invasive species management and restoration practices on natural lands in order to maintain and restore ecosystem function. This position is expected to assist Vegetation Management Crew Leaders with project coordination and oversee a crew of three. The job demands sustained focus, attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset. Assistant Crew Leads will have the opportunity to gain technical certifications and learn new skills and best practices related to vegetation management and ecological restoration.

Qualifications:

Driver's license and ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record.

 

Acceptable background information including criminal history is required.

 

Ability to perform a wide range of physical and manual tasks in an outdoor environment under a variety of weather conditions. Physical ability to stand, walk, kneel and lift heavy objects on a regular basis.

 

Ability to learn invasive/native plant identification. Interest in plants, natural resources or ecology.

 

 

 

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

Contribute to a safe learning environment; willing and able to work in a collaborative manner to help achieve program objectives.

 

Written and Oral Communication: Ability to follow and give written and oral direction involving task assignments and safety protocols. Effectively communicate ideas or concerns of the crew with the crew leader or appropriate staff.

 

Work Ethic: Ability to stay engaged and motivate others with frequently repetitive manual tasks for up to 10 hours at a time. Ability to maintain a high standard of work quality for both themself and others.

 

Customer Service: Represent the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks with integrity to the public and project partners at all times.

 

Attention to Detail: Ability to keep accurate records, organize information, and follow established procedures. Attentive to changing field conditions, crew needs, plant morphology, and native and invasive species.

 

Safety: Ability to perform risk and hazard analysis and implement proper safety measures; ability to judge weather conditions. Vigilance in maintaining crew and personal safety.

Salary:
$20.15-27.10/hr
