Employer Purdue University Job Description, Responsibilities and Required Qualifications or Skills Vegetation Survey Technicians will help carry out research on the effects of silvicultural treatments on the ecology of managed forests as part of the Hardwood Ecosystem Experiment (HEE) near Bloomington, IN. Field sites will be within Morgan Monroe State Forest and Yellowwood State Forest. The primary duty for these positions will be to conduct overstory tree surveys including measurement and identification of trees, saplings, and seedlings as well as shrubs. Technicians may also be asked to assist with other research projects and maintenance tasks associated with the HEE such as Lepidoptera sampling and breeding bird monitoring throughout the field season. Additionally, technicians will collect updated GPS data for HEE units. Each work week will generally consist of five 8-hour days. Work will not exceed 40 hours in a week.
