Position Title: Waterfront and Program Assistant Location: The SFS Center for Marine Resource Studies (CMRS) - South Caicos, Turks & Caicos Islands (TCI) Start Date: Anticipated travel and arrival to CMRS are scheduled for January 23, 2027. The selected candidate will participate in required on-site trainings scheduled for the week of January 25, 2027. Position Summary: The Waterfront and Program Assistant assists faculty with various research projects, including planning, data gathering, analysis and report writing. The position also assists the Dive Safety Officer / Marine Operations Coordinator in the implementation of the dive and waterfront program. This includes assisting with the safe and prudent conduct of SCUBA, snorkeling, swimming, and boating activities conducted at the Center. The position also supports ongoing research projects including but not limited to the center’s coral restoration efforts. Minimum Qualifications: Ability to obtain and maintain a Turks and Caicos Island visa. SFS will assist with completing this process. BA/BS in Marine Ecology, Marine Resource Management or Marine Policy and Socio-economics Current First Aid and CPR certifications Current, active Dive Master certification, including insurance Ability to provide own SCUBA gear, including providing service receipt for regulators Experience working with U.S. college-age students in a professional setting Small boat handling experience Experience organizing and facilitating groups Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and independently Demonstrated commitment to environmental issues Clean driving record and ability to operate standard transmission vehicles and boats Ability and willingness to participate in field exercises and waterfront activities Ability to safely lift, carry, and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds Ability to walk on uneven terrain, swim/snorkel, board and travel on small vessels, and work outdoors in tropical conditions Willingness to work flexible hours and live on site at the field station with a small team of permanent staff, groups of US undergraduate students and visiting researchers or programs Job Field: Fisheries Parks, Recreation and Tourism Water and Soil Resources Wildlife GIS/Technology Other Job Type: Full Time Location Detail: South Caicos, Turks and Caicos Salary: $10,000 - $12,000 Job Benefits: Benefits Free On-site room and board (all meals also provided while programs are in session) Reimbursement for travel between the employee's home of record and the SFS Center at the beginning and conclusion of employment After one year of employment, employee will be eligible for reimbursement of one additional annual round-trip visit to their home of record during an intersession period each academic year.
