Job Description:
  • Engages in local and statewide water quality and basin planning efforts, actively engaging river basin councils, TMDL planning, and nutrient management efforts.
  • Builds and maintains strong connections with crucial stakeholders, including local non-profit organizations, regulatory bodies, universities, other water utilities, and other pertinent parties, to actively support ReWa's mission and key initiatives.
  • Engage in watershed planning efforts, including analyzing and assessing the condition of watersheds, identifying potential risks and challenges, and developing strategies to address them.
  • Conduct water quality assessments to monitor and evaluate the health and condition of water bodies within the region, including collecting samples, analyzing data, and reporting findings.
  • Develop plans for the use of ReWa’s land resources in a manner that is environmentally sustainable, recommending best management practices (BMPs).
  • Develop habitat management plans, which aim to preserve and enhance natural habitats for various species, including identifying priority areas, recommending conservation measures, and implementing restoration projects for ReWa’s properties.
  • Provide recommendations and assistance for implementing programs and strategies aimed at improving water quality in daily operations.
  • Assist with practical demonstrations of environmental and renewable initiatives, including implementing projects related to renewable energy, sustainable practices, or innovative environmental technologies.
  • Develops and supports technical projects focused on understanding and addressing pollutant loading, identifying pollutants of concern, and assessing the overall effects on the watershed.
  • Provides technical support and facilitates communication strategies in response to water quality impacts, prioritizing the protection of public health and the mitigation of environmental impacts.
  • Assists in development and implementation of educational programs that emphasize environmental education and watershed protection.
  • Coordinates assigned activities with other sections, divisions, departments, clients and outside agencies as appropriate.
  • Performs general clerical work as required, including but not limited to preparing reports and records, completing forms, entering, and retrieving computer data, copying, and filing documents, answering the telephone, attending meetings, etc.
  • Attends meetings, training, seminars, etc., as appropriate to maintain job knowledge and skills.
Qualifications:
  • Requires B.A. or B.S. Degree in Biology, Environmental Sciences, Ecology or Natural Resources, or closely related degree.
  • Requires four (4) years of progressive related experience.
  • Requires effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license.
  • General knowledge of the application of water quality standards and resource protection rules and requirements.
  • Experience with the development and implementation of watershed and/or land resource management plans with an emphasis on nutrient management.
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint is required.
  • Experience with ArcGIS is desired.
