Deadline: Tue, 08/01/2023 - 12:00pm Employer: Mason Bend Plantation Job Field: Wildlife Job Type: Seasonal, Temporary, Internship Location: Alabama Location Detail: Sawyerville, AL Job Description: The internship at Mason Bend Plantation is a diverse and demanding position. However, it can provide a rewarding experience for students interested in holistic management of white-tailed deer, turkey, waterfowl, quail, and other wildlife on a free-ranging, private property. Specifically, interns will be involved in various forms of habitat and property management, which may include but not limited to planting, spraying, timber management, prescribed burning, supplemental feeding, hunting blind preparation, camera surveys, and grounds management. Mason Bend Plantation is located in Hale County, AL and consists of 5,500+ acres of primarily forested land, with interspersed food plots and early successional areas. Two additional properties have recently been purchased that are managed primarily for waterfowl. Interns will be responsible for working alongside personnel to achieve desired landowner objectives for these properties. Interns will be provided with on-site housing with utilities and be paid $14/hr. The work week is typically Monday-Friday and can be up to 40 hours/week. Internship opportunities may be available spring, summer, and/or fall. Intern start and finish dates are negotiable. Job Requirements Assist in the implementation of all wildlife and timber management practices Help maintain all facilities, houses, grounds, equipment, roads, and assets of Mason Bend Plantation in clean and functional working condition Work alongside of farm personnel to accomplish landowner goals and work responsibilities Understand the demands of the position, including both the physical demands and the time requirements Trustworthy, dependable, honest, and high moral character Self-motivated with an ability and willingness to operate effectively and achieve goals without constant supervision A willingness to get along with others and cooperate together as a team A working knowledge and/or experience in wildlife management, and the willingness to learn and attain proficiency in areas of weakness An understanding of how to safely and effectively operate typical farm equipment, which may include but not limited to vehicles, ATVs/UTVs, boats, chainsaws, etc. A valid U.S. driver’s license Salary: $14/hour How to Apply: Please email resume with references to sethbasinger.masonbend@gmail.com
